I am Sick, and We got our Pay it Forward Prize!

Hi Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here with an unusual mid day update. We have received our pay it forward prize from Leah of Life with Pugs (http://www.jasonleahdenver.blogspot.com/). As you can see, everyone in the family was excited to check out the box...and look at the cute picture card of Daisy and Oscar...and to see the UBER COOL pug decoration that Leah sent for us! Yay Leah! We love it! Thank you!
In slightly sadder news, the results of my poop test, that I took at the vet on Tuesday, were not good.
I have some type of cock disease (Jemima's Mom's note: it's called coccidia, Jemima, and please remember that you are not a prostitute, so you cannot get any "cock" diseases).
I had to have a procedure, that I wont even talk about, to help remove the little disease thingies, and Mom has to shove medication down my throat for eleven days!
The cats and Mom and Dad may all be infected!
Ugh! Not good!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck

Another Mid Week Update

Well, its has officially been a bad week for Jemima Jones Beck.
Mom and Dad took me to the vet yesterday, and I got stabbed which, Mom says is actually called being "vaccinated", anally probed ("having my temperature taken"), and sucked nearly to death ("blood draw").
All this so that Mom and I can join the Delta Society. Apparently I need to be healthy and stuff.
But, it's only Wednesday so I suppose that the week still has time to get better.
On a happier note, Mom and Dad's seven year anniversary is this Sunday. This is the anniversary of their first date, their actual wedding anniversary is on Christmas Eve.

Jemima Jones Beck

201st Post

Hi Everyone!
Jemima Jones Beck here to let you know that this is my 201st post! I would have commemorated my 200th post, but that was the post in which we announced Dad's promotion, and I didn't want to steal any of his glory.
So, in honor of my 201st post Mom, Dad, Grandpa Steve, Grandma Marlane, Aunt Tyka, and I all went to Ulysses Dog Park this morning.
We had a great time and we had our pictures taken. You can tell that Aunt Tyka is a little bit shy (because she is running away from the camera in the first picture of her), but that once she gets over her nerves, she is a beautiful girl!
We also ate hot dogs, as you can see in the pictures of me....I love hot dogs...yummmmmmm!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
Ps Happy First Day of Fall!

Congratulations to Dad

Hi All!
I just wanted to say Congratulations to my Dad, Scott Ryan Beck, who was promoted today!
Yay for Dad! Now he can buy me more treats (especially since Mom's promotion doesn't seem to be bringing in any more treats than before she got promoted)!
Dad is now the Operations Manager of Party Time Rental!
Cool huh?

Pay It Forward, One Last Chance

Hi guys! This is the last call to play the Pay it Forward Game! Any more takers?

The Delta Society

Hi! Everyone! Jemima Jones Beck here with some uber exciting news!Mom and I are joining the Delta Society! We start our training this Saturday after a year of being on the waiting list for the training classes! I am so excited to be a Delta Dog, and a Pet Partners Team with Mom! We are going to rock! For those of you who have never heard of the Delta Society here is the link...they are a very worthy program : "Delta Society's Pet Partners Program trains volunteers and screens volunteers and their pets for visiting animal programs in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, schools and other facilities."
Examples of what Mom and I will be doing once we have graduated from the training course: "A group of volunteers takes their dogs and cats to a nursing home once a month to "visit." The visit occurs as a large-group activity with some direction and assistance provided by facility staff. The volunteer group facilitator keeps an informal log about who was visited. An individual brings her dog to a children's long-term care facility to "play" with residents. Although the staff is involved in the visits, the staff has not set treatment goals for the interactions. Aside from signing in and out, no records are kept. A dog obedience club gives an obedience demonstration at a residential facility for teenagers with delinquent behavior."
I am so excited!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
PS just in case you can't tell what is happening in the first picture, I will tell you...Spork (one of the kitties) is jumping over my head while I chew a bone. He is the orange blur that you see in the upper left corner.

Taos, New Mexico and La Lana Wools

As some of you may know, my Mom is a knitter, so when we were in Taos, New Mexico, aside from eating at the Dragonfly Cafe and going to the Door Store, we also visited one of the most famous wool stores in the country - La Lana Wools.
I had a great time at La Lana because the proprietor let me come in with Mom and Dad! Yay!
I got to sniff the wool and all of the other items on display, and while Mom was making her yarn purchase, a woman came in who owned a Pug! Just like me! She was so excited to see me, and she asked lots of questions about me! I loved being the center of attention!

Taos, New Mexico and the Dragonfly Cafe

On our way home from Santa Fe, New Mexico (which is 391.9 miles from Denver, Suki Sumo), Mom, Dad and I stopped in Taos, New Mexico.
We did a whole bunch of stuff, in Taos, but the very best thing for me was eating at the Dragonfly Cafe.
The Dragonfly Cafe is totally dog friendly, and while we were dining there were 8 other dogs there! Wow!
I got to meet a lot of new friends including the black and white fuzzy dog that you see in the fourth picture and the three dogs sitting with their owners in the fifth picture!
And Mom and Dad got to try some new food! Dad's French Toast came with...FLOWERS...on it! Now, I know that flowers are edible, but it was still surprising. Dad didn't want to eat them, so Mom gave them a shot, and she said that the Marigolds tasted like oranges, and the violets tasted like vanilla, and the unidentifiable red ones tasted like sugar!
Wow!
Mom is sooooo brave eating flowers!
We also went to the Antique Door Store, which was exactly what it sounds like...a store that sells ton and tons and tons of antique doors. It was cool! Aren't Mom's pictures of the doors pretty?
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck

More Pictures of Santa Fe and the Pay it Forward Game

Hi again everyone! A few more quick pictures from Santa Fe before we head out for Taos, New Mexico, Leadville, Colorado and home. All of the pictures that you see on this post (except for the one of me, of course) are of the San Miguel Mission Church which is the oldest surviving building of its type (the church type) in the country. The original building dates to 1610, and the bell that you see was supposedly originally struck in 1356 (there is some debate as to when it was actually made).
The little silver things that you see all over the wood holding the bell up are called Milagros. People believe that if you have an ailment you should get a Milagros that is in the shape of the thing that is ailing you (your arm, leg, heart, head, eyes, guts, etc), and nail it to the bell, and you will be cured.
Mom bought a Milagros in the shape of eyes and nailed it to the wood for her Bon (Grandma Velna) who is currently having some issues with her eyes, and a surgery that was just performed on them.
In other news the Pay it Forward game is still open. We still only have Suki Sumo and her Mom as

players, so if you want to play put it in our comments! (that means you Randi!!! yay!).
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck

Santa Fe, New Mexico

As I mentioned on Thursday, Mom, Dad and I are on a little trip...a mini break if you will...in Santa Fe, New Mexico!
Now, we have all been to New Mexico before, especially me because I was born in New Mexico, but we wanted to see more of the great art and stuff in Santa Fe, so we drove down here on Friday night, and are heading home via Taos, New Mexico tomorrow!
It's so nice to be out of the Denver area for a while! Dad seems much more relaxed and happy than he has in a long time!
The first place that Mom and Dad visited was the Loretto Chapel which, is famous for it's "miraculous" staircase that has two complete 360 degree turns, no means of support, and was built by an anonymous carpenter with only a hammer, chisel, and water (no nails, glue, etc).
Next Mom and Dad stopped and saw some kittens that were up for adoption in the Plaza. The cutie pictured with Dad really wanted to come home with us, but Mom said that enough is enough!

They saw some art galleries and the Palace of the Governors (where major jewelry shopping occurs), and some chili peppers, and tried to see the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, but it is closed until the 20th of September (bummer).
Then they went to lunch at the Pink Adobe (which Mom and Dad both highly recommend) and saw the Basilica of Saint Frances of Assisi, and then they FINALLY came back to the hotel to see me! You can see Dad and I snuggling on the bed in the hotel!
I am so happy to be snuggling!
We also tried to find the Santa Fe off Leash Dog Park, but we got lost, so that's out, but also OK, because I am just happy to be spending time with my people!
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck

Mid Week Update

Hi Everyone!
First off let me say that I am a little bit disappointed that only one person wants to play the Pay it Forward game...I really wanted to make some handmade stuff for people...oh well...that just means more for Suki Sumo and her Mom!
Nothing very exciting is happening here except that Mom and Dad are thinking about taking me on a little trip this weekend. I wont tell you where yet (I don't want everyone out there to be disappointed if we don't go), but this is the first weekend that Dad has had entirely off in about two months (!!!) so he wants to go somewhere bad (Mom wants to go as well, she hates being stuck in Denver, Colorado all the time)!
Love to all!

Pay it Forward

Hello! All! There is currently a game going around blogland called "Pay It Forward" (like the movie). I won a gift from Leah, of Life With Pugs (http://www.jasonleahdenver.blogspot.com/), and I can't wait to see what she comes up with! I will now pass my good fortune on to others..... "Here's how it works! I'll send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this 'Pay It Forward' exchange! I don't know what that gift will be yet, and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week... but you will receive it within 30 days, that's a promise! The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making the same promise on your blog" Anyone want to play?
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck (and her Mom, Rachele Jean Beck)
UPDATE: Suki Sumo's Mom is my first player! Yay!
Someone wants to play with me!

The Bark Park

I have such good parents!
Apparently, they read my recent blog post wherein I wrote about how tired I am of doing the same old things, and, after having read it (that particular post), the took me to a new dog park! Yay!
What good parents!
This afternoon Mom, Dad and I jumped into the car and drove for about half a hour to the Bark Park (which Mom says is not to be confused with the Barf Park, otherwise known as Elitch Gardens).
The Bark Park is on County Line Road, near Quebec in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and I highly recommend it. It has a nice fence, and a water fountain with bowl with for the doggies, and many nice pick nick tables and benches for the humans.
My humans had a great time. They sat and talked (and Mom knit) while I ran around and sniffed stuff and played with other dogs.
Dad did get a little bit cold, and had to borrow Mom's sweater (see picture of Dad in girly sweater below), but that was the only thing that went wrong...and it wasn't the Bark Park's fault that the weather was chilly..was it?

Mom's New Piano

Mom has always wanted her own piano. Ever since she was a little girl and taught herself to play an
"electronic piano" (Jemima's Mom's note: that would be called a keyboard...I THINK), that was left to her when her great grandfather, Clyde Boyle died.
Well, the other day, Dad was riding his bike to work and saw a sign advertising a free piano...free if the person who wanted it could move it!
So he stopped at the house with the piano with a whole bunch of guys from his work, and they loaded it onto their truck and took it with them in the truck for the day (they took it with them to a party that they were setting up in Grand Lake, Colorado).
Then, at the end of the day, they unloaded it into the Party Time Rental warehouse where Dad is going to sand and re-finish it for Mom.
Apparently, it is a very nice piano. Mom says that it is in fairly good tune, and just needs a little bit of lovin'.
As you can see in the picture, I was a little bit concerned about falling off of it...I am not sure that pugs were meant to sit on top of Stultz and Bauer Pianos.

It's Sweater Weather Once Again in Lakewood, Colorado

Well, that time of year has arrived again!
The time when kids go to school, and Dad wears pants to work, and the kitties want to snuggle all the time.
I am talking of course about Sweater Weather. It has arrived here in Lakewood, Colorado and Mom and I marked the occasion by digging one of last years sweaters out of the closet and putting it on; (on me because I was about to freeze to DEATH)!
Enjoy the sweater weather if you can!

Another Saturday

Another Saturday here at the home of Jemima Jones Beck.
Mom didn't have anything to do, so she let Dad have the car, sooooo... we are stuck here at the house. No park for me...at least not until Dad gets home this afternoon.
So far we have been cleaning...I picked up some of my toys and put them on the bed, while Mom used the evil monster (aka the "vacuum"), on the carpet.
I have also been hanging out under the stool and sleeping.
Exciting huh?

Went to the Dog Park...AGAIN

I, Jemima Jones Beck, am getting so bored.
Never, in the two and a half years that I have been with my people have we lived in one place for so long, and done the same thing so many times.
Mom, and Dad originally brought me home to a house on the outskirts of Durango, Colorado. We moved into Downtown Durango about three months later, and to Oregon about six months later, to Denver, Colorado three months later, and to Lakewood, Colorado two months after that...and we have been in the same town, in the same house, doing the same things, ever since. ...
Going to the same dog park, and to the same laundry mat, and to the same restaurants, and to the same jobs (Mom and Dad), for over a year now!
What gives Mom and Dad? Lets go somewhere! Do something!
Please!
In the mean time, here are more pictures of me playing at the same old dog park.
Love,
Jemima Jones Beck
ps can you spot me in these pictures? I am kinda hard to see! HaHaHa (evil pug laugh).

Toe Nail Clipping

Sigh...Mom clipped my toe nails today.
I hate having them clipped. Mom has to squeeze me between her legs to keep me from moving, and bribe me with hot dog bits.
Not very dignified for a lady to be photographed flat on her back, between someone's thighs, with her feet in the air...is it?

Grandma Andrea's Wedding - a Few Pictures

Hi Everyone!
Jemima Jones Beck here to share some really quick pictures that Mom and Dad took yesterday at...GRANDMA ANDREA'S WEDDING...!!! Yes folks, the wedding has finally happened. All that preparing has been leading up to...yesterday! And I wasn't invited!
So, I am rather angry, and hurt (especially because I hear that there was another dog there), but I am still willing to share these pictures with you! enjoy!
